Dizzee Rascal

Who is Dizzee Rascal's target audience?
I believe Dizzee Rascal to have a moderatly young target audience. The reason being this is that a majority of his songs are evolved around raps and his music is quite upbeat, which makes it more appealing to young teenagers and adults. From his chirpy lyrics and cheeky smile he continues to produce hit after hit with his first song Bonkers to now producing songs with other groups for example Florence and the Machine, 'You got the love'. Dressed in his own unique clothing, created by his own label, Dirtee Stank, which just goes to show that he is his own individual person and dresses how he wants too and not how others want him to be. His music is fun and quirky in which teenagers are looking for in the music industry today. With the way he dresses, performs and the music he releases goes to show that he wants his music to be aimed towards the younger target audience. Link 1
Has the audience changed over time?
Dizzee Rascal's audience has stayed the same over the past couple of years as he still only produces raps. But then when we look at the song he released with Florence and the machine 'You got the love' I believe that the song reached out to a whole different group of people of all ages as of the song reaching out to both young and the more older audience in which creates a bigger niche in the market for himBut with him producing music constantly for his younger audience makes him stand out more from other musicians as he only sets himself to a specific target audience which is young teens. But then on the odd occasion he produces music with other musicians which are based towards another audience which makes him even more popular throughout the music industry.
How does he appeal to different audiences?
He appeals differently to different ages for example when we look at the younger target audience which he is aiming for. They find his music funky, upbeat, and something to dance and sing along too. But as the age progresses some become offended by his music and even dislike his music as of it being so upbeat and different compared to other music for example Ed Sheeran's music which consists of a slow relaxed tone which many people of all ages like. But Dizzee is now starting to reach out to a wider variety of audiences by featuring in songs with other world wide known celebrities meaning that he will appeal to more by following their needs and to become more known to a wider audience throughout the world.

Is he a positive male role model?
No as when we look at his past we see that he was a bad teen. 'He used to be a rascal as he used to get involved with fights with teachers and used to steal cars and rob pizza delivery men' which shows that he is a negative role model towards the younger audience. But yet when we look at him now he still has that bad boy behaviour with the way he dresses with the hoodies but then when we look at him in the music industry he is a music phenomenom. When we look at his past life and his life now we see a huge change and see what a positive outcome has been brought to the music industry. Link 2
'Dizzee Rascal loves performing so much he can't contemplate ever giving up music' This quote just goes to show that if you keep to your dreams and focus on them hard enough then they will come true just like Dizzee's did.

How does he present himself to his audience?
Dizzee Rascal presents himself to his audience in a number of ways. Firstly starting off with his dress sense, Dizzee Rascal has his own label and own unique style which can be seen to the younger audience as stylish. But the more mature and older audience may disagree with his sense of dress style as it may be influencing the younger generation that hoddies are the right thing to wear, where as when we look at the younger generation today a majority of teenagers where hoodies and usually afraid members of the public as hoodies hide part of your identity away. When we look at Dizzee Rascal's songs they symbolise fun as the soundtrack within it is  upbeat and quirky symbolising that he wants his listeners and viewers to have fun like he is. Within his videos Dizzee dresses how he wants which is a positive view to the viewers as he doesn't overdress he keeps to a casual look.

How have audiences responded to Dizzee Rascal?

I believe the responses vary to Dizzee Rascal depending on the ages of the viewers/listeners for example the older audience may not like Dizzee Rascal's style of music due to most of the songs that he has created have been involved around rapping which people of the older age may not agree with. Whereas with the younger audiences of young teenagers a majority of teenagers enjoy his style of music as it is quirky upbeat a type of song they can dance along to at raves and parties in which a majority of teenagers attend. But many members of the public dislike Dizzee for example
"I dislike him. However without him UK hiphop would be nowhere, Dizzee & Wiley made Grime but Dizzee turned his back on Wiley and grime for mainstream money which I think is unacceptable. Dizzee did have his reasons, he got stabbed in Ayia Napa and Dizzee said that Wiley provoked it..long story but the bottom line is... I don't think Dizzee should get any recognition as he has turned out to be a smug pop-star who doesnt care about his fans.." Link 3
Production
There are a variety of people who write Dizzee Rascals songs whom are 'Dizzee, Calvin Harris and Nick Detnon' Most of Dizzee Rascals songs are written by himself with the help of Calvin Harris who wrote Holiday. Both singers combine their idea's to produce his songs. He was signed and records with XL whom he has been with since he first started his career. But he now records his own record lables with his Record name 'Dirtee Stank' in which has now undergone a signed multimillion dollar record and distribution deal. Dizzee has a number of managers starting off with his main label manager, Laurence Ezra and tour manager Paddy Stewart whom have been by Dizze since the beginning of his career and have made him the success of what he is like today.

Marketing and Distribution

He's main target audience is young teenagers as he believes that he can relate to them in what they are searching for in the music industry today. Which is why he has become such a sensation to the music industry today. Many methods are used to promote Dizzee Rascal's music one being his relationship with the public, as Dizzee is trying to reach out to the widest audience possible which is why he is now featuring in songs with other singers a prime example of this is Florence and the Machine.
