Target Audience
Coldplay has a mixed audience of all ages and of both sexes, due to their combination of music which flows with a mixed vibe of music of a relaxed but yet upbeat tone meeting towards a variety of audiences. Coldplay has a large target audience of the ages from 14-48 the reason being this is that the band have created a consistent style of music for their songs as the music sticks to the same flow of style with the same use of instruments but with the different use of song lyrics. Making them appeal to a wider audience. Overtime Coldplay's target audience has changed from being quite a specific target audience for the ages of 30-40 year olds to now the target audience of 14-48 year olds showing a dramatic change over the years that the band has progressed making them become more known to the public eye. The band appeals to its audience in a variety of ways with their style of music which is a relaxed but upbeat tone and also with their lyric choice which most of their songs are based around a variety of different topics. For example 'Paradise' which is about a girl who the band is singing about with her eyes, and the way she looks. But it is the use of instruments which draw us in as an audience which in this case the song is quite upbeat but flows very well with the way that the main singer sings making it more ideal for the target audience. The band produces a positive approach with their consistant flow of style making them more seen to the public eye. With most bands there type of style of instruments and music changes making some songs appeal more to the public and some not so appealing. Which is why Coldplay sticks to the near enough same style of music making it known to the audience who has created the music.
Audience positioning
The audience are positioned within the lyrics of the songs that Coldplay has created in which the producer of the music wanted to intend. Most of Coldplay's songs relate to a majority of the publics social life this could be do with relationships, family, love etc. Or some of the songs that Coldplay produce break away from this to make the members of the public feel good, lightening up their days. When we look at Coldplay's music videos for example 'Paradise' we are placed as the audience as we watch the band perform to an empty room making us feel like they are performing to only one person making the target audience feel unique. Most of the music video's that the band produce are very different and confusing as they do not in any way link into the lyrics but yet it keeps us watching the video as we want to find out where they lead up to next i.e. a different place within the video.

Responses and user interaction
There are a variety of responses towards Coldplay. Starting off with their fans; when we browse through the internet searching about information on Coldplay we find a variety of fan sites which the audience have created about the band which hold character based files on each member of the band describing when they were born, and basic information about them. The audience get self actualization and personal identity from the music which Coldplay produce due to what the lyrics say and what they are promoting to the audience which in this case is love, relationships and social life. The audience can find themselves escaping from everyday life when listening to Coldplay as the music is relaxing and is something that the public can sit down and relax too.
Debates on relationship between audience/users and text.
The debates which are surrounding Coldplay is that the audience believe that their music should change instead of remaining consistently the same throughout each piece of their music that they have produced which is a positive thing as it keeps the band recognized towards the public but yet the same style of music can become boring. Other debates are that the audience would like to see other members of the band sing instead of the one main character as the main singer has a consistent flow of song which to the audience may become boring but I believe if they changed this then they may appeal to a larger audience if they perform as a group more in song.
